We Exact Justice to Protect Your Civil Liberties

Freedom of Speech

Freedom of Religion

Freedom of Religion

  • When the government punishes you for speaking out at a meeting, or expressing unpopular views online, or recording public activity, your First Amendment rights may have been unlawfully violated and you might be entitled to wide range of relief, including, for some offenses, significant money damages. However, despite the simple language used in the First Amendment, figuring out whether you have legal remedies can be far more complicated than you may have been told. There are many commonly held misconceptions about the right to speech, the right to record in public, and the right to criticize government. We have decades of experience in protecting civil rights and civil liberties. We understand public forum doctrine, and can determine whether government restrictions on your rights were constitutional based upon the forum in which the restriction was imposed, the nature of the restriction, and its effect on your ability to communicate freely. We also understand when and how liability attaches to local governments or law enforcement officers. We understand how qualified immunity might affect your case, and we know what evidence must be presented to establish substantial money damages, rather than so-called nominal damages. The remedies we can pursue on your belief may include court orders stopping any unlawful conduct, damages for the harm you suffered, and payment of your attorney’s fees.

Freedom of Religion

  • The Constitution protects not only your right to believe, but also your right to practice your religion without unfair discrimination or unnecessary interference. When a government agency, employer, school, or institution refuses to reasonably accommodate sincerely held religious beliefs or singles someone out because of their faith, legal protections may be triggered. We have the experience to evaluate whether the law requires accommodation of religious practices—such as dress, grooming, observance days, or prayer—and whether officials improperly denied those rights. We know how to use lawsuits and writs to seek corrective policy changes, compensation our clients for any actual losses, and enforce the constitutional guarantees that government will not interfere with its people's exercise of religious faith.

Freedom of Assembly

Freedom of Religion

Unlawful Search & Seizure

  • Peaceful protest is a core constitutional right, but the People exercising that right are increasingly being met with unlawful restrictions, intimidation, retaliation, or worse. Police and other government authorities often improper interfere with lawful demonstrations and assemblies through unjustified dispersal orders, selective enforcement of regulations, or arrests without proper cause. Having participated in, and still participating in such actions ourselves, we are familiar with issues related to permits, overbroad time-place-and-manner restrictions, and unjustified police conduct. When officials overstep their constitutional authority, you may be entitled to seek damages and pursue court orders protecting the you and your fellow patriots' ability to gather and express dissent.

Unlawful Search & Seizure

Unlawful Search & Seizure

Unlawful Search & Seizure

  • The Fourth Amendment protects you from unreasonable searches, seizures, and detentions. If police stop you without reasonable suspicion, conduct a search without a warrant, probable cause or other legal justifications, or seize your property without a warrant or lawful exception, a lawsuit is much more effective way to enforce constitutional protections than leaving bad reviews, posting on social media, or filing complaints with the agency that just violated your rights. We understand how to scrutinize the circumstances of a stop or search, review body-camera footage and reports if available, and determine whether officers exceeded their authority.

Due Process

Unlawful Search & Seizure

Equal Protection

  • The guarantee of due process means the government cannot deprive you of life, liberty, or property without fair procedures and lawful justification. Violations can occur in many settings, including disciplinary proceedings, licensing decisions, benefit terminations, or other government actions. The state cannot act arbitrarily or capriciously and cannot deny someone a meaningful opportunity to be heard. An experienced attorney can identify whether the government failed to provide required notice, a fair hearing, an impartial decision maker, or other necessary procedures. If your due process rights were violated, we can bring legal action to restore your lost rights, reverse improper decisions, and hold officials accountable for ignoring the fundamental fairness that the Constitution guarantees you.

Equal Protection

Unlawful Search & Seizure

Equal Protection

  • The Constitution requires the government to treat everyone equally under the law. When officials single out individuals or groups for unfavorable treatment because of characteristics such as race, religion, national origin, or other protected classifications, there is usually a remedy. When similarly situated people are treated differently without a legitimate reason, we can use the Equal Protection Clause to set officials straight and right their wrongs. We know how to investigate whether discriminatory policies or practices were involved and gather the evidence needed to show unequal treatment. If discrimination can be proven, and we take your case, we will work tirelessly to recover damages, impose policy changes, and seek court orders ensuring that the government complies with the fundamental principle that we are all equal under the law, and that the law must apply equally to each of us.
